Welcome to my breakdown of the creative process behind my portfolio website! Here, you’ll learn about my inspirations, how I translated my ideas into visual elements, why each detail is meaningful to me, and how I'm telling my story through design.

Concept & Symbolism
A modern twist on traditional Korean art.
• As a second-generation immigrant, I've grown up at the intersection of two cultures: Korean and American. Learning to balance these two fragments of my
identity has shaped who I am, and this duality strongly influences my artistic perspective, especially when it comes to design.
• When I set out to create my portfolio, I aimed to merge a sleek, contemporary aesthetic with traditional Korean motifs. This blend of old and new reflects
my own journey as a designer.
â—‹ Embracing tradition: Whether I’m designing tattoos or experimenting with digital illustrations, I’ve noticed I’m naturally drawn to designs that reflect my
cultural roots.
â—‹ Evolving identity: Even though I dip my toes into various design “phases,” I always find myself circling back to traditional styles. It’s like comfort food for
my creativity, reminding me of who I am and where I come from!
Design Process
UI/UX: Figma mockups.
From Wireframes to Final Layouts
• I started by creating mid-fidelity wireframes in Figma and focused on
navigation flow and responsive breakpoints.
• I refined the layout with each iteration to ensure an intuitive, user-
friendly experience.
Balancing Design Elements
• Throughout the process, I paid close attention to white space, color
distribution, and visual hierarchy.
• This helped keep the content front and center while maintaining a clean,
cohesive look.
Graphic Design: Procreate illustrations.
• To ensure that every section felt unique yet cohesive with the overall aesthetic, I used Procreate to design and hand-draw custom elements for each page.
Every graphic element was carefully planned to enhance the overall user experience while reflecting my personal style and cultural inspirations.
What's Next?
This website is an ever-evolving project.
• As I continue to grow as a designer, I plan to revisit these elements, keep refining the UI/UX, and add new illustrations or interactive features that resonate
with my personal journey.
